The players are in very good condition and they want to do well, they’re fit, they’re strong and they’re hungry. They are training well and there’s a fantastic atmosphere around the place. Hopefully we can continue to get stronger as the season goes on.”

“Defensively we’ve been very very good. We do a lot of work on that, and it’s also great that the lads are getting goals at the other end. Last year, we gave away too many silly goals and dropped a lot of points that we shouldn’t have. This year it’s different.”

“Wexford are a very good side. They’ve got a good manager and he’s brought in some experienced players. It’s always a difficult place to go. They play some good football, so we know it’s going to be a tough game.”

Darragh Crowley has started the last few games for City, and he was also on media duty on Tuesday: “One of the main things we said at the start of the year, was that we had to start games quickly. As you’ve seen, we’ve been scoring goals early and making it very difficult for teams. It’s very different to last year, when we could have conceded a goal and would have been chasing a comeback.”

“We’ve only conceded two goals this year, which is way less than everybody else. We’ve been scoring a lot as well… A couple of lads have three/four goals, whereas last year it was only one or two of the lads scoring all the goals. We’re a threat from set pieces as well this year, which is massive in this league. Ally and Jonas have both scored as well, which shows that we’ve got goals everywhere.”

“The support this year has been fantastic. We have two games in the top four attendances across Premier & First Divisions this year. That’s incredible. You wouldn’t get that any any other club. That sort of support really spurs you on.

On the injury front, Cian Coleman is back training, while George Heaven is also nearing a return.
