It will be a first league meeting between the sides since July 2017.

Speaking at his weekly press conference, City boss Colin Healy said: “Galway have got a very strong squad. John’s teams always have a never say die attitude. We’ve seen videos of them, they’re a very powerful side. They’re scoring late goals which shows that they are never going to give in, so it will probably go right to the wire on Friday night.”

“It was important to keep a clean sheet last week, it’s always important. We had a few great chances last week, all we need is for those chances to end up in the back of the net. Friday will be another tough game, but we’ll definitely be going for the three points.”

Cian Murphy picked up two goals in the last home game, and he also spoke to the media this week: “Goals always drive confidence, that’s definitely good for the attacking players. The clean sheets will also build confidence for the defenders and I think you can see that in the performances. UCD weren’t a bad team, but we defended very well when we didn’t have the ball and we created the better chances so we were unlucky not to get the three points out of it.”

“It’s very important for us now to build on the last 3 games. We need to keep going in that direction and edge our way up the table. Friday will be a big game for both teams. We’re near each other in the league so both teams will be looking to get one over on each other.”

On the injury front, Healy will be without Steven Beattie, Alec Byrne is rated as touch and go, while George Heaven is still ruled out.

The match will be broadcast on LOI TV, with commentary from Red FM’s Ruairi O’Hagan and City legend Dan Murray.

You can buy a season pass for €79, or purchase a single match pass for just €5.
