The visitors come into the game off the back of last Friday’s 1-0 victory over Wexford at Tolka Park.

The most recent meeting between the two sides ended in a 1-1 draw in Tolka Park last September, with Deshane Dalling’s equaliser earning a point, cancelling out Dayle Rooney’s early opener. A victory on Friday night for City would see them leapfrog the Dubliners in the table.

Speaking ahead of the game at his weekly press conference, City boss Colin Healy said: “Shelbourne have got very good players. They’ve got experience and they’re a very good side. It’s always a good game when Shelbourne come down.

We’re looking for a good performance from ourselves. The boys have trained hard this week, we’ve all looked at Shelbourne – we know what they’re about, so we’ll be ready for them on Friday.”

City captain Gearóid Morrissey also faced the media this week, and he highlighted the importance of picking up the three points on Friday night: “We’ve done our work this week, no different to any other week, but there’s a bit of extra intensity about us this week. We really want to get that win – for ourselves and for everyone watching. We need to pick up wins and generate some positivity again. There’s no better time to do it than on Friday night.”

On the injury front, Healy will still be without Rob Slevin & Josh Honohan, while also monitoring Cian Bargary after last Friday’s game: “We’ve got one or two knocks – Cian Bargary has got a bit of a problem with his ankle and he’s still having a bit of treatment so we’ll have a look at him before the game.”

The match will be broadcast on LOI TV, with commentary from Red FM’s Ruairi O’Hagan and City legend Dan Murray.

You can buy a season pass for €79, or purchase a single match pass for just €5.
