{"id":638,"date":"2021-02-11T16:44:32","date_gmt":"2021-02-11T16:44:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/corkcityfc-posts.speiredev.ie\/index.php\/2021\/02\/11\/sarah-mckevitt-signs-for-cork-city-fc-women\/"},"modified":"2023-08-22T09:40:17","modified_gmt":"2023-08-22T09:40:17","slug":"sarah-mckevitt-signs-for-cork-city-fc-women","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/corkcityfc-posts.speiredev.ie\/index.php\/2021\/02\/11\/sarah-mckevitt-signs-for-cork-city-fc-women\/","title":{"rendered":"Sarah McKevitt signs for Cork City FC Women!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\">Cork City FC are delighted to announce the signing of former Peamount United &amp; Wexford Youths player, Sarah McKevitt, for our SSE Airtricity Women\u2019s National League side!<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The 22-year-old becomes the first new addition to the side, after Becky Cassin, Katie McCarthy, Danielle Burke, Shaunagh McCarthy and Kate O\u2019Donovan re-signed with the club earlier this week.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Speaking to <a href=\"http:\/\/CCFC.ie\"><span class=\"s1\">CCFC.ie<\/span><\/a> after signing, McKevitt said: \u201cHaving been based in Maynooth for the last 4 years, I was hoping to be Munster based once I qualify. For me, City was the obvious choice. I was delighted when I got the call from R\u00f3n\u00e1n. Having met the team and seeing the quality set up they have, I was sold. I\u2019ve been playing in the WNL for the last 6 years, so I hope to bring some more experience to the side. Personally, my last two years in the league haven\u2019t been as consistent as I\u2019d have liked. I am looking forward to a fresh start and enjoying the game again!<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The Tipperary native linked up with her new teammates last week for pre-season training, and is looking forward to getting down to business: \u201cTraining has been going very well, I\u2019m really enjoying it. There\u2019s a great bunch of girls down there and they\u2019ve all been very welcoming. I can\u2019t wait to play in Turner\u2019s Cross again &#8211; it holds a special place for me, having beaten England there in the U17 European qualifiers! It\u2019s one of the top venues in the country.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">City boss R\u00f3n\u00e1n Collins was delighted to get McKevitt signed up, saying: \u201cI coached a few sessions with a Kilkenny Gaynor Cup team a few years ago. Sarah was part of that squad and even at that age her quality was clear to see.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">She\u2019s only 22 but has huge experience both at international underage and in the WNL. I still think the league has yet to see the best of her and I\u2019m sure we\u2019re going to see that at City over the coming seasons. She\u2019s already integrated very well with the girls and has brought an extra bit of quality to the sessions.
