Cork City fell to a 4-0 defeat against Shelbourne in their latest Women\u2019s National League at Tolka Park on Saturday.<\/p>\n
City got off to a bright start nearly taking the lead in the early moments of the game with an Eabha O\u2019Mahony corner finding Saoirse Noonan whose header was cleared off the line. O\u2019Mahony came close with a free kick outside the box forcing a save from the Shelbourne goalkeeper.<\/p>\n
Shelbourne took the lead in the 31st<\/sup> minute when Rachel Graham struck from distance with a good strike. City almost immediately replied with Eabha O\u2019Mahony finding herself free in the box but an excellent save from Rachel Kelly stopped her effort. Shelbourne doubled their lead with Jess Gargan scoring an excellent goal from the right side of the penalty area.<\/p>\n City got off to a poor start to the second half being reduced to 10 with Maria O\u2019Sullivan being sent off for a challenge outside the box. Shelbourne quickly took advantage of the player advantage by scoring a third via Gemma Whelan after a swift Shelbourne counter attack.
