Cork City FC are delighted to announce that Jonas H\u00e4kkinen has signed a new contract with the club.<\/p>\n
The 23-year-old has made over 40 league appearances for City since joining in 2021, and was a regular in the side last season as they claimed the First Division title. The Canadian defender told\u00a0CorkCityFC.ie<\/i>\u00a0that he was delighted to have signed back on Leeside for a third season: \u201cI\u2019m very happy to have signed back again for 2023. I am happy at the club and I really enjoyed last year. It was a very enjoyable season for all of us and, obviously, winning the league in front of a packed Turner\u2019s Cross was a really special occasion.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is an exciting time at the club right now, there is a good mood around and we are all really looking forward to next season. We only have a couple of more weeks until we are back in pre-season training, so we are looking forward to that and then building towards the opening game of the season at Turner\u2019s Cross against Bohemians.\u201d<\/p>\n
City boss Colin Healy welcomed the news, saying: \u201cJonas has been a very good player for us since he came in. He\u2019s a really good professional, he trains really well and he\u2019s a very popular member of the squad.
