City tried to get back into the game as Eva Mangan struck from distance but her shot took a deflection mid-flight so was easily gathered by the Sligo goalkeeper Mahon.

In a first half of few real chances City while getting more into the game in possession and territory struggled to create clear chances with Zara Foley having a shot blocked in the 21st minute and a dangerous Riona Crowley cross heading for Lauren Singleton but the cross was blocked and the first half ended with a one goal lead for the hosts.

The second half was also a quiet affair on the chances front as City tried to get back into the game and pressured a Sligo defence which stood resolute against the City attacks snuffing out potential chances.
