Cork City FC Women\u2019s U17 squad head North to Bray Wanderers this Saturday (23rd Oct, 3pm KO) hoping to add to the three points won against Bray earlier in the season. That game was played in torrential rain and finished 1-0 to City thanks to a powerful Grace Flanagan strike from outside the box, deep into injury time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe last game was a really good battle, we won 1-0 but Bray played some really good football, are technically strong and they also provide a tough physical challenge. Grace scored a great goal late on. The game was competitive but we\u2019re confident we can go up there and score and bring back the result we want\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Defender Sarah Bell is unlikely to feature after picking up a knee injury during the week. Some players have been carrying niggles over recent weeks which will be assessed prior to the game, but Healy welcomes back Heidi Mackin, Maebh Russell, and Ellie O\u2019Brien after International duty. \u201cIt\u2019s great to have the girls back, they\u2019ve been training really well all week and it helps to build back up the squad and gives us some more options.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Healy\u2019s squad will be looking for a good performance heading into the following weekend\u2019s WU17 League Cup semi-final at home to Galway Women\u2019s FC. Cork City are WU17 Cup Holders and will be looking to defend the trophy lifted at Athlone Town Stadium last season after a thrilling final against Shamrock Rovers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
